Deet nodded in agreement. He knew all too well how hard it was to make friends when you didn’t fit into ‘normal’. He couldn’t count how many times had the villagers been upset by his tinkering!
Poor human…the little fairy couldn’t help his wings drooping in shared sadness. Internally, he vowed to make her smile, at least once. It’s what he did best, right?
"It’s okay, Celina. I’m out now, right? That’s all that matters. As for introductions…"
Deet stood on the lip of the jar and bowed deeply.
"Dietrich Orrin Ackley at your service, but most just call me Deet."
With a subtle flick of his wings, he overbalanced himself, making a startled sound as he started falling to the floor. An instant before he hit, he let his wings catch him, swooping up and perching on Celina’s knees and smirking mischievously.
"Nice to meet you!"
When Deet started to fall, Celina gasped in horror. He was going to die and it was going to be her fault! But then his wings caught him and he landed on her knees smiling a smug little grin. She placed a hand over her rapidly beating heart.
"Oh my gosh Deet! You nearly gave me a heart attack!"
She shook her head.
"I’d say its nice to meet you too, but with that near death experience you just faked, I’d say its more interesting to meet you instead."
She placed her hands in her lap and looked at the tiny creature curiously. A real fairy was sitting on her lap. Or she was just having one of the best dreams ever….
"Are you always so reckless or do you just like putting on a show to show off your impressive flying skills?"
